me talking to my mom: "where's chris?" she asks. "surfing," i reply.
me talking to my friends: "chris is surfing," i mention. "again?" they respond.
me to (add name): "oh, he didn't tell you he was surfing this morning? sorry. he should call you back shortly."
"where's dad?" my children ask. "he's surfing." i tell them. "oh." they say as they return to the regular daily activity.
yes. he is OBSESSED. and that 's ok. it's making him happy.
don't ask how many boards are resting in the garage. "i only have one more board i need to make my collection complete." this he told me on saturday.
we have books on how to improve your surfing. videos. exercises. books. and more books.
we were at the beach the other evening and i was watching him with the kids, taking them each and teaching them the techniques. ceily now wants to join the club. eddie's already a member. noah and lana take turns as well.
"should we move to hawaii instead of richmond," i asked this afternoon.
"no! then i couldn't surf - waves are too big. maybe costa rica." he explained.
i'm on board.

Move to California. I'll go surfing with you anytime you'd like. I am a junkie. On Memorial Day I went three times to three different places using a different board each time. Keep building your board quiver. I am behind this 100 percent.
