halloween

I really enjoy this halloween thing. It's fun to decorate the house. It's fun to see everyone having such a good time. More than once the kids said how much they love Halloween. I have to agree.

Last year the complaint was that we didn't have enough decorations in the house. This year it was that there were not any cool, scary decorations outside. I try. I really do. One day they will be satisfied.

Ceily was invited to a party this year. She was excited to have her class project costume to wear. Nefertiti was beautiful and lovely. And quite somber. I don't know if it's the age, or she was really trying to channel her inner Nefertiti. She came home late and found everyone counting and eating their insane amounts of candy. I saw her eyes sadden as she realized she didn't have the same. We all have to grow up, right? But we have been sharing. That's what families do. After the parents have forced the issue of course.

Noah spent the whole month of October trying to decide what to be. He and his friend decided to trade last year's costumes. Spidey for Boba Fett. But, when Noah realized that Spidey was actually traveling to Atlanta, he wasn't too happy and lamented his decision for a few days. Should he be Dracula? How about a Pirate? Could the Red Power Ranger delight his fancy? Or Peter Pan? (No Way!!! Peter Pan was not even a consideration!) The day before the 31st, "Dalacula" became the choice. Finally. No fangs though. They hurt him too much. And no blood dripping from his mouth. "No Way!!"
After taking a 3 hour nap, he was ready to roam the streets asking for treats.

This year it was obvious that I have older kids in the house. The pumpkins have gotten much more elaborate. I'll have to give props to the art classes my older two have attended. Not really. Those pumpkin decorating sheets are pretty cool. Skelvis and Boney Peace graced the steps.
Eddie's friend Tristan, aka Elvis, came and he and Eddie disappeared. They returned hours later with pillow cases filled with sugar. They immediately emptied the bags and began trading and eating, and eating and eating. We loved Eddie's costume this year. Kip, post LaFawnduh, made everyone laugh. "LaFawnduh is the best thing that has every happened to me. I'm 100% positive that she's my soul mate. Napoleon, I'm sure there's a babe out there for you too. Peace out."
Lana enjoyed being the "Midnight Fairy." After Trick-or-Treating, she came home and said: "Dang it Mom! We forgot to put make up on my face." She didn't need any. She's so dang cute. She ran house to house with the next door neighbor and was delighted with all the treats. She was not too delighted when I tried to take a picture while she was trying to enjoy the chocolate candy bar.Now the kids are bouncing off the walls. Too much sugar. Love it. I think I will hide the candy tonight. Or maybe Chris and I will enjoy some treats as we watch our scary movies.

Too cute Jayne...isn't it sad we never get to spend Halloween together.
I love the trick or treat sign!
