conversation with eddie

Time: Monday afternoon
Setting: In the car with Eddie after picking him up from school

Me: "Have you talked with any friends about Trick-or-Treating?"
Eddie: "I'm not going this year, remember?"
Me: "Oh, really. I didn't remember."
Eddie: "Yeah, remember I'm going to hide in the bushes and jump out and scare everyone."
Me: "You're going to be happy without a huge bag of candy?"
Eddie: "Yeah."
Me: "Really Eddie, you're not going to go Trick-or-Treating?"
Eddie: "Yeah, and Matthew is going to scare everyone with me. And I'll get the candy that all the kids drop because they are so scared."
Me: "Eddie, no one really does that."
Eddie: "Yes they do. Or I'll just take Noah's candy."
Me: "You wont be taking Noah's candy. Why do you think you can do that?"
Eddie: "He owes me."
Me: "He OWES you?"
Eddie: "Yes. Remember when he ate the candy in my advent calendar a year ago? He owes me back for that."
