Ceily loves to go because she gets to pretend for a few hours or a couple of days that she has lovely, straight, golden locks. "I love it because it's so pretty." And I can relate and understand completely. Ceily inherited my hair and I know she at times, probably most times, wishes she had not. I hated my "fro." I hated that I couldn't have those awesome Farrah Fawcett wings. I wanted to own a huge, thick comb, that I would constantly take from my purse and comb those wings back into perfection. I too wanted to feel the wind blow through my Dorthy Hamil do as I skated the perfect figure 8. I too wanted to run my fingers effortlessly through my hair.
It wasn't until years and years did I appreciate and love my hair. What do I love about my hair now? I'm pretty much wash and go. I don't have to brush my hair. I don't have to blow dry my hair. I don't have to curl my hair. I too can have the perfect long, straight, shiny hair, if I want. Or the "Hippie Hair" at no additional cost. Lately, she has been calling her long curly, mass of hair, "Hippie Hair."
I think she is beginning to appreciate her hair a bit. But, as she gets up from the stylist's chair, I can see the glimmer in her eye. Her hair is straight and now she can be Straight Hair Ceily for a bit. Because the second she jumps into that pool, the eternal curls spring back to life.

Jayne I haven't ever seen Ceily's hair straight. It's cute. Iove her curly hair though....everyone wants what they don't have..I use to get some serious perms to have curly hair....
