I'm not a clean freak. I do like things nice and organized and peaceful. But, I don't bounce a quarter off the sheets. I don't even make the children make their beds in the morning.
I usually have my children tidy up their rooms once or twice during the week. Then on Friday after school or Saturday we take the time to really put things away.

So last week was a bit stressful here in the Thomas household. I wasn't my usual task manager. The weekly room cleanings were not done. I just didn't take the time, have the time, or want to take the time.
I looked at my girls' room this morning. I keep shaking my head. I wonder when they will finally grasp the concept of clean and tidy. Ceily is 11, so it's not at that age. How much longer do I have to wait until they want to be in a tidy, organized atmosphere? Even Chris made a comment this morning as he tried to maneuver his way to the bed to get Lana up for school. Wait, I'm remembering something Ceily said. She walked in yesterday morning and before I even said anything, she said- "Yeah, we need to clean up after school today." Maybe the time is almost here...

I'm the same way Jayne. But I am meaner than you and make my kids clean before they leave for school. They have to make their beds and make sure the floor is clean. Hunter's room was so spotless for a while then one day I opened his closet. Then I saw everything and anything that he had thrown in there. Sigh.
I am just trying to train them for their wives one day!

I love it! You're house always looks so great downstairs when I come visit. I never knew you were a fraud. Now I don't feel like such a slacker mom. You made my day!

What is it they say?... Pick your battles. I'm in charge of downstaris, that's why it stays tidy. I figure my kids need to have some space they can call their own...even if it pains me most of the week!
