a concert story

Photobucket

my very first concert, that i chose to attend was Journey. yep, Journey. i actually wanted to go because bryan adams was opening for them. of course, bryan was sick that night, but i will admit, i enjoyed Journey. can't go wrong with a little oh, sherrie now and then.
i can also remember my parents taking us to see donny and marie and the osmonds at the capital center. we had box seats and it was AWESOME!!! because remember, we were related to them...

chris is way into music. played guitar in bands, formed his own band, dreams of a family rock band one day. so, we have seen some concerts together. it's fun. but i always hated the smoke and the sticky floor from spilled drinks and smelly bodies touching my not smelly body. i rejoiced at the fact that being pregnant did not allow me to attend. didn't want my baby near second hand smoke.

last week ceily's best friend begged her mom to buy tickets to see never shout never for ceily's birthday present. (thank you staci!!! you're the best.) ceily had been begging for weeks, even months to go to this concert. christopher drew is her dream boyfriend. he can 'do no wrong, is beautiful, perfect in every way and the best thing ever to live on this earth.' the day of the concert, gillian gave to ceily, the golden ticket! here are her facebook updates throughout the day and night:

my mom just said I just took you to that stupid christofer drew concert.

the night was fun. ceily and gilli were giddy. the grill connected to the concert venue allows you to enter 15 minutes early if you spend money. they were panicking they were going to miss the entire concert, and not be able to see anything because our food was late in coming. they ate nothing but were successful in making it through the doors as the last two girls with seconds to spare.

this is the maine. not never shout never. they were the third band to play that night. staci and i were so excited never shout never had finally started. it wasn't until maybe 20 minutes into it, and i had taken lots and lots of pictures, even going downstairs to get closer shots, it was revealed to us that it wasn't christiopher drew at all. he was next. (we thought it was strange there were huge M's behind them. and his music sort of sounded different than what we thought we had listened to. and we thought the other guy playing guitar behind him was christopher drew, not this guy. we are old.)

if i had to choose a concert to attend as a 40 year old, this was a pretty good one. at least it wasn't too crazy. i actually like his music. it was very, very nice being in a smoke free venue. the only beer drinkers were the parents waiting for their non-driving middle school children.

after all was done, and christopher drew had left the stage for good, the girls found us and proclaimed their renewed love and adoration of the 19 year old, barefoot singing, peace proclaiming, love not war boy.

.the end.
