in june school was out. a few days earlier eddie graduated from 5th grade.

he will go to middle school in september. (i always have to remind myself it's middle school and not junior high. whenever i mention junior high, ceily looks at me like i'm crazy and asks me what junior high is. i tell her in the olden days, middle school was called junior high school.)(and i STILL think 11 years old is TOO young for middle school!)
eddie asked to wear a tux to his elementary graduation. his father and i denied the request. we told him he could wait for prom or when he gets married.

if we had said yes to the tux
then the last day of school arrived.
noah came home, climbed on my lap and cried and cried and cried. he said: "i'm going to miss my teacher the most. i don't even have her phone number." (thought to myself it was a good thing 26 kindergartners didn't have the teacher's phone number.)
eddie came home and sat on the couch and cried.
lana came home, walked upstairs to her room, sad, but not crying.
ceily had already arrived home.
JUBILANT! GLEEFUL! GAY!
she was done with school days. but did mention she had already cried at school.
two days after school was out, ceily was taken to south carolina. her bestie came to get her.
we followed some days later to retrieve her. we missed her a lot. needed her with us.

so happy to go back to south carolina for a bit.

we remembered why we miss it sooooo much.
visited good friends.
played at the beach.

came home and celebrated the 4th of july with my family.
then at the last moment booked a week at the outer banks with my family.
fun. fun. fun.
now we are home. got back saturday night. chris got back sunday morning.
left sunday evening for scout camp with eddie.
when chris returns, he'll head out again to some army barracks for a few days with the youth from church.
i feel like this summer has been non stop. we haven't been home. it's been fun traveling and vacationing.
but i would like my little birdies all safe and sound under my wing for a bit.

(ok, so we have been home 'all safe and sound', all my birdies literally under my wing for a long bit. it's time we took a vacation again.)
