past birthday

chris turned another year older on tuesday. it always cheers me up when his birthday comes. that's the day he's older and i'm not as older than him. because remember, he's 23 and i'm 40...

me...i really enjoy preparing for birthdays. i love getting that person presents and cards. i love making cakes. i love taking them to lunch and then dinner. i love wrapping presents. i enjoy getting the children gathered together to write birthday wishes or draw pictures. it's fun for me.

2004 birthday

this year as i prepared for chris' big day, he had one birthday request. a special trip to surf. of course i gave permission to leave his family, travel to a place far away, risk death by shark attack, never to return and then i'm up a creek. that's how i am. and it also made him happy.

because i was so accommodating, i never gave another thought to his celebration. i didn't get a present. i didn't make a cake (he's on a diet again). i didn't buy cards. i even thanked him for mentioning his birthday 2 nights before. i was about to forget.

but...i didn't.
and i surprised him.
with a surprise party.

he walked into a home filled with women and babies and his mom and dad. they yelled "SURPRISE!!"

once he realized the yelling and decorations, and women and babies were for him, he was happy and we all ate lunch and enjoyed the afternoon.

i love chris. he's the best. can't wait for next year.
